I read Jo’s advice on PRPs in a comment to RoughWaterJohn:
I see you have the ‘POSSIBLY RELATED POSTS’ section now appearing on your pages.
Heads up – 90% will not be possibly related.
I hated that because when people click on them and they [go] somewhere silly – from my 100 Things post they were redirecting them to a page with nothing, a page where someone was discussing their mother dying, and another a shopping list you might need should visitors come. SERIOUSLY….but you can get rid of them
If you want to remove the related posts from your blog entirely, just go to Appearance->Extras from your Dashboard menu.
Check the box for Hide related links on this blog to turn off the feature.
No more PRP’s…:)
I followed Jo’s instructions and got a surprise when I read:
“Hide related links on this blog, which means this blog won’t show up on other blogs or get traffic that way”
The message did not stop me from ticking the box to turn them off. But it did set me to thinking: Hmmm, was I suddenly going to lose all the links that I intentionally set up on my blog. Naw.
Then: Have I just pulled my own link off my friends’ blog pages? I just checked (ooof) and the answer is “Naw” as well.
But the wording on how to hide PRPs remains ambiguous to me.
What do you think?
